![]() The fact that PayPal owns Xoom puts the power and reputation of a big, well-known brand behind the service. The PayPal-owned service offers a lot of flexibility and convenience when it comes to international monetary transactions. In addition, Xoom can be beneficial if you regularly pay international bills or reload a cell phone account. I recontacted Xoom and gave them the email address, but xoom said they didn't have the ability to communicate with my bank, but could take part in 3 way telephone call, if I could initiate this! Problem is that this would not have resolved the problem even it was possible, as they are in Western USA, so business hours don't coincide with Europe and you can only contact them after 1700 GMT! I still haven't got the funds showing in my account and have been waiting 6 days.Xoom can be especially useful if you want an international recipient to be able to pick up cash at an array of global locations or want cash to be delivered directly to a recipient in another country. I had given them the full IBAN, correct account name and bank details! They emailed me a code which they said would cancel the hold on the funds and said I should communicate this to my UK bank, but when I spoke to my bank they said the cancellation had to come directly from Xoom - all they needed was an email to a specific email address which they gave me. Despite me passing all the security questions without issue and confirming the destination account and intended recipient were correct, they said they couldn't make the payment. Xoom failed to transfer the funds upon my request saying there was a security issue and their customer service people are useless. Horrendous experience which cost me money as I had a deadline for the payment. Horrendous experience which cost me money. UPDATE: I have used the platform for another transaction and it was completed within an hour, very satisfied. Overall It compares and feels like PayPal for me so will for sure be using Xoom again. The transparency and communication Is of course digital but I felt comfortable during the process time, it’s all there when you need to check on the progress. As far as fee’s go, I have travelled many times from Canada to the UK and using Xoom was the considerably cheaper than normal which makes all the difference, I usually get a feeling that you have no choice but to take a hit on fee’s but I didn’t get that this time using Xoom. I did not use visa or a credit card, I had the funds come from my bank directly so I guess that’s why there was a wait plus the fact that it’s cheaper that way. This was my first transaction and although It was a 2 business day wait because my bank had to be verified, no idea if it will be shorter next time but to be honest for me that’s not an issue. After reading the bad reviews I based my decision for using this App/Site on my PayPal experience rather than anything else. Now my friend, who was due to get his money 6 hours ago will have to wait until Monday. Absolute joke! Then phoned up to cancel the whole thing and the person on the end of the phone couldn't care less about the experience. Then I get another email straight away saying that additional documents are needed and when I clicked the link and then the button to authorise the transaction i find out that a second sum of money had now been deducted from my account. No phone call came and 15 minutes later I get an email saying that the money was on hold as someone needed to speak to me. Reluctantly I answered these and after another 10 minutes of being placed on hold I was advised that the representative would have to call me back on my listed phone number which would be 2-3 minutes later. ![]() After 45 minutes on the phone speaking to Customer service, then the compliance team then the verification team I was asked a range of very person questions about why I was sending the money and whether I had met the person in person and how we communicated. Did then and then the response was that it would take up to 24 hours to review. Then after an hour I got email asking me to upload photo ID. The money was due to arrive within an hour or two. Tried to transfer money to a friend in France. Do Not use to send money abroad - Complete Nightmare!
